American Representation
Perfection illusive, but our flag waves still.

We elect our federal officials in the Senate and in the House Of Representatives. And by this, we each are represented. However, we also hear about a caucus or a committee, Senators and Representatives seat.

We also elect a president, who in seat for office represents all Americans. Or should, if he or she does not become too involved in patrician politics, losing their focus of office in various issues.

However, what many an American does not realize, is those who serve in caucus and on committees most often consider and influence national projects and efforts, thus representing all of us. We each their constituents, than only those of their state. This likens the responsibility of the presidency.

So, when you consider contacting one representing you, although they are not directly effected by your vote, as can be worrisome I know, contact those one the caucus or committee. And excellent research tool of internet is thomas.loc.gov. (Leave off the www, if this url manually typed.) In contacting by letter or email, it may be wise to send a copy to your own state's representatives. A little work may be involved, until familiar with doing this, but the point is your voice heard.

However, as Americans, we should be aware that ourselves represented involves Senators and Representatives from other states, than only our own. As is the nature of caucus and committee. The diluted representation they don't teach about in school. You've probably heard about "powerful committees" though. And it is true, some Senators and Representatives advantage their home states much too much, seated in committee. They fail in their duty to represent all the people, themselves powerful but not patriotically great. This, while they are thought great in their home state, where they are subject to re-election, and usually their re-election is strongly supported. Add party support, each party's seat valuable in supportive congressional voting. This is hypocrisy, certainly, but solution has not yet been discovered. In the while though, education in our public schools about this dilemma, or unavoidable imperfection as vulnerables our representation, would be helpful of course.

Some citizens aware of this do not vote. The hypocrisy discouraging them, as though "what's the use"? However, your vote does matter, and significantly matters. There are truly some good people in our government, who would strongly offer or support solution, if or when solution discovered.

Constitutionally, we are supposed to be "a more perfect union", I know. This is exhalative, than really truthful, as many people are vulnerable to, but will support. As supported with their approval, during this nation's founding. And by their support, a new nation was born, and also a new form of government on earth, as has been worldly influential and progressive. Those who founded America got the job done.

America is a perfect union of the states, as the United States? Possibly, this can be considered perfect. Something like perfect. But America is a perfect union of the people, respecting representation? No. However, the more we are aware, the less those in their powerful seats of committees and also caucuses will misrepresent all the people, by representing their states much too much, as unfairly benefits them and their constituents.

In the US government, representation is not perfect, and this has been true all along. And though this can be disconcerting, first realizing this, rest assured that thru it all, our flag waves still.

In footnote: Having written that, and seriously having written that, I know some Senators and Representatives are saying to themselves, they are simple folk and certainly not one of the great minds having founded America. However, since the founding of America, many not only have a college degree, but a Master's Degree. And others have a PhD. Perhaps this is a time for showing that such celebrated and rewarded higher education credentials mean something. Intelligently so mean something. By applying oneselves for the sake of the nation. American representation has problems that need be gone from us, that need be behind us. By solution, because of solution.

For many Americans, also this writing is "deprogramming", I know. And yes, I am clearly aware what this writing further reveals and means. However, at this time, I think it is wisest we now have our own thoughts, than this writing be more explicit.
